Who we are
Imago Mundi is a Napa Valley family owned winery crafting handmade wines. The word Imago Mundi “Image of the world” is a Latin word and an old cartography society which depicts our journey into the wine world by creating world class wines form the very historic region of Napa Valley.
The journey started with the 2012 Vintage of Imago Mundi Cabernet Sauvignon and has continued with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The journey starts in the vineyard with grapes coming from the Corotto Vineyard in Carneros, the Persistence Vineyard on the Silverado Trail in Napa, the Annapurna vineyard in Stags Leap and the Reynolds Family Estate vineyard. All grapes are handpicked and brought to Reynolds Family Winery where we are making our wines under the supervision of our winemaker Steve Reynolds.
Our Adventure
Our Founder Thorleif Egeli started his passion for wine while driving through the Mosel Valley in Germany at age 18 taking in the beauty of the valley and the tastes of the Mosel Rieslings ranging from bone dry wines to sweet dessert wines. This passion for wine followed him through the world during his career.
Following his studies, he went into the oil world with travels across the globe working on 5 continents and living in 9 countries before ending up in Houston Texas. During this time, many visits to wine regions across the world from France, Spain, Italy, Argentina & New Zealand continued to expand his wine interest and knowledge. The wine passion at this time took a more serious turn with wine collecting and frequent visits to Napa Valley for various trade events. Several years ago, he met Steve Reynolds and they decided to start the Imago Mundi wines with Steve as the consulting winemaker. The rest is history in the making
Our wines
From the cluster to the bottle.
Pulp, skins, stems, seeds and bloom combined to produce our perfectly balanced wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and our very bold Cabernet Sauvignon.
We are fermenting our wines in a combination of steel, concrete and some barrel fermenting. Aging of the wines are also done in different vessels to create the best balance of acid, fruit and tannins with beautiful texture and mouthfeel.
